Yuki Kao Artist

Yuki Kao is a painter whose work explores emotional complexity shaped by her experience across cultures. Born in Japan and raised in Taiwan, she later lived in Los Angeles and Paris, where she studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and Studio Berçot. Moving between these cultural environments created emotional tension—subtle, unresolved feelings that continue to surface in her work.

Yuki’s art is often driven by emotion, with each piece capturing how she feels in a specific moment. She compares her creative process to taking a photograph through film—an attempt to preserve fleeting emotions that might never return in the same form. Using oil, acrylic, ink, and pastel, she explores the layered interiority of feeling, shaped by both memory and cultural dissonance.

Now based in Taipei, Yuki Kao continues to explore the complexities of emotion and memory.
